How to buy from Amazon and Ship it to the Philippines

buy and ship amazon to the philippines

Amazon has been a wonder in the Philippines. There are always people asking me how to buy stuff from Amazon and ship it to the Philippines. I always answer them that you at least need a credit card in order to do that. With the introduction of Paymaya, online shopping has never been easy. I wrote a guide below on how to buy from Amazon online!

How to Register and Create an Amazon Account

In order to buy from Amazon, you will at least need an Amazon account. In order to create an Amazon account, click this link and fill up the required fields. You need to verify your email address after creating an account so make sure that the email address that you’ve entered is valid and can be opened by you.

Browse items in Amazon and Checkout

Log-in to you account then browse items that you want from Amazon. If you haven’t set the shipping address if your account, you should click this link to set it up first. Once you have everything set up, you’ll see an info in the upper left side of the website indicating your shipping address.

Most items can be delivered to the Philippines but there are exceptions. Items that does not have “Fulfilled by Amazon” tag on it is less likely to ship to the Philippines. Make sure to keep this in mind. For example, this Nintendo Switch can be shipped directly to the Philippines.

Once you have selected the items that you want to buy, you need to add the item to your cart then checkout. Similar to other local websites like Lazada, you need to go through the payment process. You need a credit card in order to pay for your item. Credit card-like payment methods like Paymaya can work.

Shipping Fees and Custom Duties

You’ll likely encounter shipping fees and taxes on your way to checkout. The minimum shipping fee for small items is around 750 Pesos. For taxes and custom duties, you need to pay at least 15% of the item’s value in advance. Items below 10,000 Pesos including shipping are non-taxable so no custom duties will be collected. The amount you see in the checkout is what you need to pay. Sometimes, you’ll receive some of your money back if Amazon is able to pay lesser custom duties from what they collected or required you to pay. This money will be added back to your credit card.

How Long is Shipping

Amazon offers fast shipping. I ordered a Lenovo C330 Chromebook from Amazon back in March 2019 and it arrived in less than 2 weeks, sometimes faster. The item will be directly sent to your address. Most items that I received from Amazon are delivered by Air21.

Warranties

What makes Amazon better than the local alternative is their customer support. Last 2016, I bought a Kindle Paperwhite 2 from Amazon. Few months later, the Kindle sort of broke beyond repair. So I chatted Amazon’s chat support, explained my situation, then they sent me a return shipping voucher so that I can send back my Kindle to them for free. I printed the voucher, went to Air21, and sent the Kindle back to Amazon. A week later, I got a brand new Kindle from them.

What if an item I want cannot be delivered to the Philippines

In this case, you need to use a forwarder service. The forwarder service will give you a US address that you can use in order to ship your item. Once the forwarder service has received your item from Amazon, then they will ship the item to your address in the Philippines.
